Viral recipes have their share of hits and misses but this one by Gigi Hadid hits all the right spot. The original recipe calls for vodka but I recreated a vodka-free version for my halal girlies and it was a delicious bombshell on a plate, just like Miss Hadid.
INGREDIENTS
- 250G of fusilli pasta (you can use your pasta of choice but fusilli holds sauces best)
- 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 5 cloves of minced garlic
- 4-5 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 200ml cooking cream
- 1 tablespoon (or more) of chili oil (alternatively you can use chili flakes)
- 1 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 50g of butter
- Salt, sugar and black pepper to taste
HOW TO MAKE IT
- Boil pasta until al dente. Reserve 2 cups of pasta water.
- In a pan, sauté minced garlic in olive oil until fragrant and add in tomato paste and stir-fry well for 5-7 mins.
- Pour in heavy cream, chili oil and stir sauce until well combined.
- Toss in cooked pasta, pasta water, season with salt, sugar and pepper and mix well again ensuring pasta is fully coated.
- Sprinkle in grated parmesan cheese and stir until all the cheese has melted.
- Add in butter for the final finish. Mix well.
- Serve immediately with an additional sprinkle of grated parmesan cheese (optional).
