Ramadhan is finally here and nothing quite hits the spot (and keeps you full throughout the day) like a hearty savoury oatmeal. A unique twist instead of the usual sweat oatmeal recipes, this one is delicious, easy, and fast to make for your early sahur mornings.
INGREDIENTS
- A drizzle of olive oil
- 2 cloves of garlic (finely sliced/minced)
- 1 Cup Oatmeal
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp chicken stock
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- a pinch of blackpepper to taste
Toppings
- 1 soft-boiled egg
- sliced spring onions
- chili oil/flakes
- a drizzle of sesame oil
HOW TO MAKE IT
- In a pot, heat up your olive oil and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Toss in oatmeal and sauté for 2 mins.
- Pour in water and stir until oatmeal has slightly softened.
- Add in chicken stock, oyster sauce and blackpepper. Stir until well mixed and oatmeal has reached the desired consistency. Add more water if you like your oatmeal runnier.
- Serve immediately, topped with soft-boiled eggs, spring onion, chili oil/flakes and a drizzle of sesame oil.
